"'Alternative Facts': The Needless Lies of the Trump Administration" Response

'Alternative facts' is fairly reminiscent of the Newspeak language in Orwell's 1984. Newspeak was designed to diminish the range of thought. Trump's administration is trying, but failing, to lie about their actions in order to control the American people. Rather than gaining our trust, the Trump administration is turning the American people against them.

Trump supporters ignored Trump's lies during the election telling those opposed to Trump that any slander against Trump was false. Yet Trump's actions are causing Trump supporters to open their eyes. The 'opinions' of Millennials are now becoming truths that Trump supporters cannot ignore. Unlike 1984, Trump isn't able to censor all media and we are able to gain access to the truth (although it can be quite subjective).

Quotidian Proposal

"Exquisite corpse is a method in which a series of images is collectively assembled. Each collaborator adds to the composition in sequence and is only allowed to see what the previous person had contributed in the end," (Wikipedia).

Exquisite Corpse 2000
Etching on paper

For 16 weeks I plan to create multiple, unique exquisite corpse drawings in collaboration with two other Tyler Art students. The collaborations will begin simple and progress into semi-finished projects during the course of 16 weeks. Color may come into play, but drawings will be completed in pencil.

"My So-Called Opinions" Response

Zachary Fine centers most to his article on the idea of "pluralism." Millennials have changed the term pluralism from simply acknowledging differences to the acceptation of all differences. This sets us millennials apart from older generation who, in general, are less accepting of cultural differences. Many millennials are still viewed as "children" by the older generations, and they use the term children in order to belittle the opinions of millennials who don't know enough about the world to have an opinion.

Millennials are on their way to being the most education generation. They also have access to way more information than older generations, yet the accuracy of information halts us millennials from making deep set opinions. We are hesitant to voice our opinion because of a mixture of the fear of being wrong and the fear of offending. Fine is completely correct by stating that "I don't know," allows us millennials to escape the prosecution of older generation who do not understand how the advancements of society have affected us.

10. Write a 5 line story.
At three years old, my mother and I lived in an apartment on Chocolate Avenue. My mother worked at a 5 Star restaurant. She worked long hours, so she slept in most of the day. Being three years old I had to find ways to entertain myself. One particular day I pulled Hershey's Chocolate Syrup out of our fridge and decided to spray its contents all over the living room with much emphasis on our couch. When she woke up I was sent to my room for the rest of the day.

11. Upload an image.
